Comhaltas - irishsummercamp4kids

What is Comhaltas?

Comhaltas is an organization that promotes the language, music, song and dance of Ireland.   It was formed in Mullingar in 1951 and focused on the traditional instruments uileann pipes and harp.

Comhaltas has branches in Ireland, England, nearly every country in Europe, Canada, U.S., Japan, Australia etc.

Fleadhs are held in each county and participants move on to provincial levels and compete in every aspect of the culture.

In North America we have Conventions where we gather once a year in various parts of the country for meetings and for a chance to share information.  Workshops, ceilis etc. take place and friendships made.

As a member of Comhaltas you get discounts at the Conventions and at various functions that are run by the branches, you receive a magazine Treoir 3 times a year with songs, and articles for information.

It is $35 for a single membership $40 for a family and for those who are over 18 living in the same household as a member it is $10.
